Stockholm, 8 April 2025

Utfallsfonden welcomes the Norwegian investment company Ferd Sosiale Entreprenører (FSE) as a new investor, while the European Investment Fund (EIF) increases its investment. A total of SEK 50 million is added to Utfallsfonden, bringing the fund’s total capital under management to SEK 400 million for investments in innovative solutions to social and health-related societal challenges.

The Norwegian investment company Ferd Sosiale Entreprenører (FSE) is investing SEK 25 million in Utfallsfonden, Sweden’s first fund focused on investments in social outcome contracts and companies that contribute to solving important societal challenges in the social and health sectors. The European Investment Fund (EIF), already the fund’s largest investor, has chosen to match FSE’s investment with an additional SEK 25 million.

Following the investments from FSE and EIF, Utfallsfonden now manages a total of SEK 400 million.

A breakthrough for social investing in the Nordics

Utfallsfonden has quickly established itself as a key player in the growing Nordic ecosystem for social investing. The fund invests both in social outcome contracts – where the public sector only pays for achieved results – and in companies with scalable, effective solutions to societal challenges such as mental illness, unemployment, and elderly care. Since its launch in April 2023, the fund has made investments in preventive interventions for the elderly, evidence-based therapies for youth with disruptive behaviors, and initiatives in primary schools aimed at improving literacy and academic performance.

– “We are very pleased to invest in Utfallsfonden,” says Espen Daae, Investment Chief at FSE. “We see outcome contracts as an important tool to promote innovation in the social sector while ensuring more efficient use of society’s resources. We hope this investment will further drive the use of social outcome contracts in both Norway and Sweden. The team behind Utfallsfonden is also one of the most experienced in the field in Scandinavia, and we are very much looking forward to working with them,” he continues.

EIF: “Utfallsfonden is building the market for social investing”

The European Investment Fund (EIF) has played a key role in the development of Utfallsfonden and joined as an anchor investor at the fund’s inception. Now, EIF has chosen to match FSE’s investment kroner for kroner, demonstrating continued confidence in the fund’s focus and capacity.

– “We are very impressed by Utfallsfonden’s investment pace and how they are methodically building the market for social investments in Sweden. It is rare to see such a clear combination of measurable societal impact and financial professionalism. At EIF, we are very happy to see Utfallsfonden grow further, and we hope that both their models and our joint investment approach will spread to other countries in Europe,” says Elodie Donjon, Investment Manager at EIF.

A recognition of Utfallsfonden’s work

With the investments from both FSE and EIF, Utfallsfonden strengthens its position as a pioneer in social outcome contracts in the Nordics. The other investors from the fund’s inception – Saminvest, Leksell Social Ventures, and Danir – all welcome FSE as a new investor.

– “We are incredibly happy and proud to welcome FSE as an investor in the fund,” says Johan Fredriksson, co-founder and partner at Utfallsfonden. “Few players have done more for social investments in the Nordics than Ferd. Their commitment, long-term perspective, and deep expertise in both business and impact make them an ideal partner for us. We look forward to working with the highly competent team at FSE.”
